Scotlands sterling issue makes independance highly problematic.
Danny Alexander & George Osborne have raised a very crucial issue from a economic perspective that will face Scotland - What on earth would they do about their currency?
Initallly, Alex Salmond had favoured the Euro for when Scotland went independent. As predicted the support for this idea has plummeted as a result of the Euro Crisis situation. Not many Scots now are willing to accept the Euro so Salmond has been forced to shift his position and now is suggesting that they stay with the GBP, at least during the inital independance.
A monetary union between two fiscally sovereign states would result in an outcome much the same as the current Eurozone situation.
In all irony as the Scottish are trying to escape the control of Westminster they will change to control from Berlin.
